My "Weekend" has just officially ended as i have no school on monday !!! wooo. ok let see what happen during the 4 days while i was in school.
Day 1 - Tuesday, 17 april 2007.
I have a 4 hours Advanced Computer Graphics practical class today and it starts at 2 PM so i can wake up real late. Been tasked with doing 4 pop-cap tutorial to familiarize us with using the pop-cap framework for doing a 2D game. I've also heard that on the next Advanced Computer Graphics class, we'll be given a assignment based on this 4 tutorial but i do not know of any details yet. hope it won't be hard. So far only completed the first tutorial and seems ok but i took up 4 hrs just to do this simple first tutorial. Looks like i am really out of touch.
Day 2 - Wednesday, 16 april 2007.
There's a total of 3 modules classes that i have to attend today. They are Programming physics, Maths 1 (somehow failed this module during semester 1 of year 1 so have to repeat it now) and Mobile Games Programming. The tutor for Physics is a female tutor from south america i think. she has a very outgoing personality but i seem to be not able to get what she means sometimes. hard for lessons though. Been tasked with doing a vector class using templates in C++. Don't know can make it or not but from my current status, looks like i can make it. Next I have maths 1 which consist of 1 hr lecture and 1 hr tutorial but I totally do not need to attend them as i received an email saying that i have passed maths 2 and going for classes is not a requirement. I just have to hand up assignment and do tests only but still i would go for classes since it's been a year already since i failed that module. I bet it will be a breeze for me as maths 2 is maths 1 + harder stuff and i passed maths 2 getting a not so good C+ grade though. Lastly is Mobile Games Programming. For this module, we are going to use java for programming games on mobile devices a.k.a handphone. went through a simple tutorial on how to use J2ME which is java platform, Micro Edition. For now nothing got registered in my head yet. And so we have an assignment which needs us to be in teams of 3. So i got into a team with eddie and 1 guy whom i do not know and absent for that class and until now still don't know. For that assignment, we are to do a proposal on a moobile phone game which is 10% for that module. Since that guy was not around and we don't know who was he, me and eddie decided to each do 1 proposal and we compare later and choose 1 for submission. I'm almost complete for that proposal, I wonder whats the progress for eddie and also hope that guy is ok with programming. And oh went home together with JW since he ended class same time as me.
Day 3 -Thursday, 19 april 2007
Today is the most hectic out of all 4 days as i have 9 hrs worth of class today. first off is 3 hrs of game development technique. for todays lesson, we were to debug some codes with tons of errors. If we do not finish it before class ends, we would be marked as absent. but thankfully, we(me and a few others whom i still do not know + Eddie) were able to finish it by helping each other. It's Communication skills class after Game Development technique. can't really rmb anything from class except for the management thing we talked about in class and we also have to do a discussion forum which i haven done yet. OH NO. And i was absurbly appointed rep for the class and had to collect money to get the book need for the class and now i owe the class ppl each 65 cents which i still have not returned to the majority of the class. Then after that was break and had lunch and saw Kimberly and Jonna. Chatted a while with them and I left for my next class which is principles of games design which is a 3 hours class. The tutor arrived talk a while, passed down a list to write down our contacts and games we played then she said class dimissed. like WTH, 10 mins finish le but still have class later after this class so stayed back there in the room to play http://tower-defence.com/ to pass time. Now, it's the last class of the day and it's JAP !!! so nice. haha. Went in class the tutor taught us a few phrases and intorduced us to regions of japan and also a glismpe of the japanese education system. We kept repeating what she said in japanes. the class was interesting all right. class ended and went to the lab with JW to get his needed files and went home with him again.
Day 4 - Friday, 20 April 2007 (Last day)
Today is rather slack, 5 hrs of lectures where only 3 is compulsory and the other 2 hrs is maths 1. anyway, went for maths 1 lecture and i just sat down there and listen. refreshed me on what i have learnt a year ago and that was kinda good. After maths had 1 hr before the next lecture starts. So i met up with my old groupmates and had lunch together. It was good meeting again as it is now different with a different group. After that the TD ppl went for their TD classes and me and my fellow Games Programming ppl went for our last 3 hr lecture which is Priciple of games design, Mobile games programming and Games development technique which is 1 hr each. the first lecture, Principle of games design, i saw my old DMD friends and realize that the DMD games specialization is having the same module as us GP so i "abandon" my DET friends and join my DMD friends for awhile. After this, i parted with my DMD friends and continue to another lecture theatre for mobile games programming. The Module Leader Ng how seng is a very nice guy. He introduce us to the java and tell us about the difference about java and C++ and said that if you're ok in C++ you should not worry even though there are some difference in syntax. After that was the last item of the day, Games Development technique, almost same thing as practical class. talked about debugging etc. the tutor said that she has a habit of calling ppl out just before the class ends to summarize about the lecture she just given. So now i'm kinda worry and also have to take notes during her class. It'll be good for me in a way. LOL.
Well That's all what happen last week and tomorrow is another brand new week with brand new worries :D. good night !
